Enhancing School Nursing and Counseling Through Trauma Sensitive Practice

Developed by the Trauma Sensitive Alaska School Health Nurse Advisory Committee

Trauma Sensitive School Nursing & Counseling: Created for school nurses and counselors, this class offers online videos, zoom calls, and online assignments for one credit through UAA.  Trauma Sensitive Practices includes an introduction to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs),   and learning the model for Trauma Sensitive Schools from the National Council for Behavioral Health. Learn to create individual care plans for physical and mental health, and social and emotional behavioral contracts sensitive to ACEs.

Intro Zoom Class on April 30 or May 5 from 3-4:30pm (only one is required).

Webinar classes will be held on Thursdays, May 7 - June 4 from 3-4:30 (5 weeks)

Scholarships available for UAA Class registration fee and required book purchase. 

Once registered, you will receive an email with class details.

One UAA Credit: Link to online registration: https://www.alaska.edu/uaonline/  (Cost $79, for 1 UAA credit, which counts as 15 CE’s towards Nursing license renewal. Upon completion provide your UAA transcript for credit.

$100 ASNA scholarship available for all school nurses that register and complete the course, ASNA members will receive priority (go to the registration link for more information).
