It Is Time to Send in Nominations for the Next School Nurse of Excellence Award

Dear Superintendents, Director of Nursing, Principals, Supervisors, Teachers, Colleagues, and/or Community Members.
Do you have this year’s Alaska School Nurse of Excellence?
The Alaska School Nurse Association annually recognizes a school nurse who demonstrates excellence in school nursing through his/her daily practice, continuing education, leadership, collaboration, etc. If your school nurse has these qualities, please nominate her/him for this prestigious award.
Process:
1. Nomination by a superintendent, principal, supervisor, colleague, and/or community member for the award. Nominees who meet the requirements will be notified and asked to:
2. Complete an application that includes a resume, letters of recommendation and an essay.
Eligibility: the nominee must:
1. Be a registered professional nurse.
2. Be a current member of ASNA the preceding two years without a lapse in membership.
3. Have five years of experience as a school nurse and currently practicing as a school nurse.
4. Work more than 50% of time in direct care.
Guidelines:
1. Evidence of excellence in school nursing practice should be based on Scope and Standards of Professional School Nursing Practice (NASN and ANA, 2011).
2. Nominee may be an officer or board member of ASNA at time of nomination.
3. Nominations must be received by January 9, of the current year.
4. Submit SNEA nominations only through the ASNA website (linked here).

The School Nurse of Excellence will be recognized at the annual conference of the Alaska School Nurse Association in April.
