NBCSN Wishes You a Happy National School Nurses Day!
Happy School Nurses Day 2019!
As President of the National Board for Certification of School Nurses (NBCSN) I am honored to wish you a very happy School Nurse Day!
It was 45 years ago that President Gerald Ford proclaimed the fourth Wednesday in January as National School Nurse Day. Since 2003, National School Nurse Day is celebrated on the Wednesday of National Nurses Week (May 6-12) each year. The National Association of School Nurses has a toolkit to help you recognize the day and raise awareness about school nursing: https://www.nasn.org/advocacy/school-nurse-day.
On behalf of the NBCSN I would like to take a moment to recognize you and your hard work. The NEA has described school nurses as “healers, comforters, educators, mentors, trainers, role models, critically-needed members of every school community - heroes all.” I could not agree more. Your compassion, optimism and kindness are appreciated every day. Because of you we live in a happier, healthier world.
Enjoy your day.
