New Dental Screening Resources for School Nurses

The Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors (ASTDD) and NASN have collaborated to develop some resources to encourage school nurses to screen children for oral health problems when oral health partners are unable to see children in schools (attached and links provided below).  Both associations are sharing these resources with our members. We encourage you to reach out to school nurses in your association to find out if they are aware of the resources and to encourage them to follow the suggestions provided while school-based oral health programs are unable to see children in schools.

• Resources for Oral Health Screenings by School Nurses - During the current pandemic, school nurses may be the only avenue for assuring that children receive dental screenings/referrals. ASTDD and the NASN have collaborated to develop some resources to assist with doing so.
