Posted over 3 years ago by Annette Johansen

Hello Nurses,

We are finally planning to start a statewide school nurse orientation course in December or January. Please complete the School Nurse Orientation survey linked below. We will end the survey on November 10, 2020.

School Nurse Orientation Survey

ASNA and AaNA will be jointly providing a school nurse orientation training starting weekly this December or January for 10 weeks, free of charge. This class will be for new school nurses, school nurses who would like a refresher, or those nurses interested in school nursing. Basic skills to be covered include physical assessment, standards of school nursing practice, the school nurse’s role as health educator, legal aspects of school nursing, health promotion/disease prevention, students with mental and physical special health care needs, and management of the school nurse office. We will use the 3rd edition of "School Nursing: A Comprehensive Text” by Selekman, Shannon and Yonkaiitis and "Managing Chronic Health Needs in Child Care and Schools" by Donoghue and Kraft as our textbooks. This class will offer a total of 15 contact hours over 10 weeks (1.5 hours per session) and will be from
4-5:30pm.

Thank you,

Barb
