ASNA School Nurse of Excellence Award (SNEA) Nominations now open until Jan. 9, 2022!

Dear ASNA Members,

Are you this year’s Alaska School Nurse of Excellence?

School nurses in Alaska are eligible for nomination for this annual award. The award recognizes a school nurse who demonstrates excellence in school nursing practice in terms of the NASN Framework for 21st Century School Nursing Practice key principles.

Purpose

To publicly recognize a school nurse in Alaska by annually honoring one school nurse who has demonstrated exellence in school nursing practice and leadership in school health.

Nominee Eligibility
Nominee must be:

  1. A registered professional nurse.
  2. A current member of NASN/ASNA.
  3. More than 50% of nominee’s time must be spent in direct care.
  4. May be an ASNA Board member at the time of nomination.

Process

  1. Nomination by a superintendent, principal, supervisor, peer or self- nomination (yes, you can nominate yourself) for the award. Nominees who meet the requirements will be notified and asked to:
  2. Complete an application that includes a resume, photo, letters of recommendation and an essay.

The School Nurse of Excellence will be recognized at the annual Alaska School Nurses Association conference in April.

  • Dec. 1 Disseminate information via website and email
  • Jan.  9 Nominations due
  • Feb. 1 Application packets due
  • Feb. 23 SNEA committee submit documents to ASNA current NASN Director
  • March 1 NASN's SNEA deadline
  • April SNEA is honored at ASNA conference
  • June SNEA is acknowledged at NASN conference
