Good Evening School Nurses,
ASNA was contacted by a representative from the Child Anxiety Learning Modules (CALM) study, a project sponsored by the US Department of Education that provides free training for nurses in brief interventions to reduce anxiety in elementary school students. They are recruiting nurses to be trained in the interventions for the 23-24 school year and are extending this opportunity to Alaska School Nurses. Their funding allows them to compensate nurses for completing the training and delivering the interventions. See flyer below for additional details on this opportunity.
The CALM program has been developed and refined in close consultation with the Executive Director and Nursing Education Director of the National Association for School Nurses (NASN), both of whom sit on the advisory board for our study.
The CALM program has been approved and implemented in over a dozen schools throughout New England and Maryland, with preliminary results indicating that school nurses make a big difference for students who struggle with anxiety!
Please reach out to them directly at calm@uchc.edu for more information about their study or if you are interested in this training opportunity.
