Don't Do the Disorder: Keys to Handling the Anxious Student

When it comes to dealing with anxiety, school nurses are on the front lines. Anxious students often arrive in their offices, either chronically seeking to avoid or in a state of panic. Unfortunately, accommodations are frequently put in place that make the problem worse. What are the key traps to avoid, and the key to challenging anxiety’s quest for certainty and comfort?

This webinar will give school nurses ways to avoid key traps  and the key to challenging anxiety's quest for certainty and comfort.

The speaker is Lynn Lyons, a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist in Concord, New Hampshire. She has been in private practice for 30 years specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders in adults and children.  Lynn travels internationally as a speaker and trainer on the subject of anxiety, its role in families, and the need for a preventative approach at home and in schools. She is a sought after expert, appearing in the New York Times, Time, NPR, Psychology Today, Good Morning America, and other media outlets.

Nursing contact hours (0.5 contact hours for each workshop) are provided by Northeastern University School of Nursing, accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
