In 1902 Lillian Wald documented that school nurses had an impact on decreasing communicable diseases and improving school attendance. Today school nurses remain at the forefront of public health. Our roles encompass physical and mental health care access and support so that our students can be in school and ready to learn.  Since 1972, National School Nurse Day has been set aside to recognize school nurses.

On School Nurse Day 2024, we recognize the positive impact you have had on your school communities. As nurses, it is natural for us to care for others, but please be sure that you are caring for yourself as well. Take this day to celebrate you and your colleagues for all your accomplishments and positivity achieved.
