Session 3

Respiratory Illnesses

Tuesday, September 17th

2 - 3pm AKT

With Dr. Mishelle Nace and Dr. Elizabeth Ohlsen from the State of Alaska Department of Health

Join us for a timely discussion on the latest updates and best practices for managing respiratory illnesses in adults, children, and vulnerable populations. This session will cover respiratory illness caused by Flu, COVID-19, Pertussis, RSV and others. We will focus on the illnesses as well as the current recommendations for vaccinations and prevention for this fall season.

During this session we will also explore data on current transmission rates, vaccine supply and ordering, and discuss other considerations for patient care as we enter the peak of the respiratory illness season. Special attention will be given to pediatric and perinatal considerations, particularly the critical role of RSV and pertussis immunizations in protecting infants and pregnant people.

Join us to stay informed on the latest vaccination guidelines, enhance your practice during this high-risk period, and discuss effective strategies for safeguarding health in Alaska's diverse environments with peer experts from across the state. The session will close with general program updates and time for Q&A, to offer access to the most current and relevant information to support your communities.
