Do you have this year’s Alaska School Nurse of Excellence?

The Alaska School Nurse Association annually recognizes a school nurse who demonstrates excellence in school nursing practice in terms of the NASN's School Nursing Practice Framework (Framework) key principles. If your school nurse has these qualities, please nominate her/him for this prestigious award.

Purpose

To publicly recognize a school nurse in Alaska by annually honoring one school nurse who has demonstrated excellence in school nursing practice and leadership in school health.

Nominee Eligibility
Nominee must be:

1. A registered professional nurse.
2. A current member of NASN/ASNA at time of nomination. (Need to renew or join? Visit HERE).
3. More than 50% of nominee’s time must be spent in direct care.
4. May be an ASNA Board member at the time of nomination.

Process

1. Nomination by a superintendent, principal, supervisor, peer or self-nomination for the award.
2. Nominees who meet the requirements will be notified and asked to: 
   • Complete an application that includes a resume, photo, letters of recommendation, and an essay demonstrating how they align and elevate their practice using NASN's School Nursing Practice Framework key principles.

The School Nurse of Excellence will be recognized at the annual Alaska School Nurses Association conference in April.
